Tonsils!

New Year's Eve was super exciting this year! Cora got her tonsils out that morning at 6am. Woo hoo! Way to ring in the new year, huh?

She is usually so afraid of everything! Especially doctor/hospital related things. Shawn and I were really nervous about how she'd do getting ready to go back with the nurse. We only explained a little of what was going to happen, which was good I think. We told her that there were yucky sores in the back of her throat that the Dr needed to take out so she'd stop getting sick all the time. We explained that they were going to give her some medicine to make her fall asleep and when she woke up it'd be over! She was such a trooper!

Here she is pre-surgery. She was SO brave.
Post surgery was a little more sad. She was really out of it and even threw up shortly after waking up, due to the anesthesia. Not fun, I'm assuming, after have surgery on your throat.
This beautiful flower arrangement was delivered later in the week from Aunt Linda. It absolutely lit up Cora's face for the 1st time since before surgery. Cora was so lucky to have lots of visitors, treats, balloons and get well items during the week.
She pretty much lives on gatorade, ice cream, pudding and noodles. She hangs out in jammies, watches LOTS of movies and has actually been painting quite a bit. Go figure.

She really has been great. She doesn't complain too much about the pain and she's relatively chill during the day. The nights are pretty rough for her. She wakes up just deliriously crying and seems like she doesn't really know why. She's never fully awake when she does it and it's pretty difficult to calm her down. She's been sleeping on an air bed in our room because of the number of times she needs us during the night. I'm hoping things will look up soon!
